IDEAL Thermo-Tip® Tools and Electrodes

The Pencil-Grip tool operates on the resistance principle, and is especially suited for miniature circuits where the heat of an electric iron would melt adjacent solder joints or damage sensitive components. These tools are lightweight and versatile for production soldering in compact assemblies. Each tool features a cork grip and a perforated aluminum sleeve that dissipates heat and provides a cool operation. The Pencil-Grip tool is available in four special-purpose electrode styles and each has a 5-ft. lead cord.
Double-Metal Electrodes: Adjustable length, feed-through type electrode.

Double-Carbon Electrodes: Carbon electrodes provide more heat than metal electrodes. Available in 1/8" and 3/16" diameters.

Single-Metal Electrodes: Designed for very small work. A collet chuck holds the feed-through electrode. The ground clamp and lead assembly for jig soldering is included.

Single-Carbon Electrodes: A collet chuck holds the feed-through electrode, permitting adjustment. The ground clamp and lead assembly for jig soldering is included.

IDEAL Thermo-Tip® Tools and ElectrodesThese lightweight phenolic handles designed with heat-radiating fins provide a cool, comfortable, sure grip. Leads enter the electrodes from the side. Attachments for the 450W and the 1000W units are identical in design but different in size. The attachments for the 450W are smaller and are designed for medium-duty applications. The 1000W are larger and are designed for heavy-duty applications.

Pliers-Type Attachments: Designed for most soldering jobs where the work could be held in the jaws while being heated. The curved electrodes are standard and are designed for an accurate connection. Application examples include: Soldering Lugs, Sweating Copper Tubing and Fittings.

Fork-Type Attachments: Designed for soldering in tight areas, these attachments come with electrode holders that turn and lock in any position. Application examples include: Soldering Lugs, Terminals and Connections in Switch Boxes, Switch-boards, or Inside Machines.

Pencil-Type Attachments: Designed for spot or seam soldering where the separate ground clamp included can be attached to a metal part of the work. Application examples include: Spot or Seam Soldering of Sheet Metal, Wire Joints, and Cummutator Risers.
